Quentin & Lucille – Stylish clothes for vintage dolls

Two vintage dolls found at an op-shop have inspired this line of miniature dressmaking patterns. Make your own tiny  garments for fun, or to actually dress a doll! The patterns come with written instructions and cutting layouts for 42″ width fabric.

Made from remnants, fabric scraps and other bits and pieces, a range of prêt-à-porter dolls’ garments are planned as well.

Be sure to visit Quentin & Lucille’s Facebook page!

Rudolf Couture is relocating!

Rudolf Couture is excited to announce that the lease on brand new premises has been signed today. The new location is even closer to the centre of Launceston, in another of the city’s iconic Art Deco buildings.

Originally built as a newspaper publishing house, the Mercury Building today houses a variety of businesses. The new rooms are located on the first floor, overlooking St. John Street and Tatler Parade.

It will take some time to prepare the rooms for moving in, so operations will be maintained at Holyman House until further notice.

The new address will be:

Rudolf Couture
1/68 St John Street
Launceston Tas 7250

All other contact details will remain the same. Click on the map to go to Google Maps.

Rudolf invited to join judging panel at wool event

Rudolf has been approached by the organisers of  the biannual Bothwell SpinIn, asking him to join the judging panel for the design competition. The festival, centered around wool and all things that can be made out of it, is now in its 38th year. Run entirely by volunteers on a shoestring budget, the event aims to showcase creative Tasmanian textile artists and designers to an international audience.

The SpinIn will be held at Bothwell in Southern Tasmania on 03 & 04 March 2017.

Exploring ‘Holyman House’

The only thing moved in so far is the sound system. With no neighbour within earshot after hours, it was given a bit of a whirl! The views from the roof are also quite spectacular.

Unpacking

It was 8.30am the day after our arrival when the removals truck turned up at our temporary home. Unloading started with some kind of system, but as the garage and carport filled up with stuff, everything ended up in a heap! At least it had arrived safely and was under cover.

First visit to the new premises

Despite near absolute exhaustion, the new premises had to be inspected straight away. What had been little more than photos, a rough floor plan and a distant memory turned out so much better than imagined. The views across the rooftops extend to the edges of the city with but a handful of tall buildings getting in the way.

Original details in and around the building are still there beneath decades of ‘upgrades’.

Road trip: the last leg

There’s no denying it, the ocean recliners are not a comfortable place to spend the night. The pillows provided were about the size of a postage stamp and the blankets about as thin as one of these! Luckily, there were plenty of empty seats to pirate extras from. Just before dawn, we docked at Devonport and set about reaching our new home.
